What it does
Fling is a Dark-type physical move. Power and side effect are determined by the user's held item, which gets consumed on hit. No item, or an item with no assigned Fling power, means the move fails outright. It bypasses Sticky Hold and fails if the user is under Embargo.
Dark typing means Weavile gets STAB on this — that matters when you're throwing an Iron Ball for 130 base power. Other options: Toxic Orb and Flame Orb deal only 30 power but inflict poison or burn on the target at 100% accuracy, bypassing the usual accuracy rolls on status moves. King's Rock adds a flinch chance. The item is gone after — no refund, no recovery mid-game.
Who runs it
Weavile (13%) is the one carrier in Champions. Its speed stat is high enough that it almost always acts first, which means status effects from Fling land before the target can do anything. With Iron Ball, 130-power STAB Dark damage is a real threat. Iron Ball Fling deals 130-power Dark damage and has no secondary effect on the target.
How to use it
The Iron Ball line is straightforward: point at whatever you want to hurt badly, click Fling, follow up with Knock Off or Triple Axel. You're treating the item as a one-time 130-power STAB move and accepting that Weavile goes itemless afterward.
The status line — Toxic Orb or Flame Orb — is about locking a target into a damage-over-time loop at 100% accuracy. Poison does not apply to Steel types, so that route only works on non-Steel targets. Burn applies more broadly but halves the target's physical Attack, which can be the actual goal against a physical sweeper.
In doubles, commit to Fling when you are sure Weavile has accomplished its turn objective. Throwing the item and then getting switched out or KO'd wastes it.
Tips & strategy
The item you bring in is the whole strategy. Iron Ball means pure damage. Toxic Orb or Flame Orb means status pressure. King's Rock means flinch fishing. Pick one and play around it — there is no 'flexible' Fling set.
Embargo shuts Fling down entirely. It is rare in Champions but worth knowing: if an opponent gets Embargo onto Weavile, the move simply fails.
