Mega Blaziken's Speed Boost snowballs into a late-game threat: after one Protect, it outruns almost everything and combines 120 Atk with wide dual-STAB coverage. The first-turn speed deficit and paper-thin defenses are the main risks, but once it gets rolling it cleans up reliably.
Playstyle:The standard plan is Protect on turn 1 to bank a Speed Boost, then sweep with High Jump Kick and Blaze Kick / Flare Blitz. The Mega locks in Fire/Fighting dual-STAB; pair it with a Swords Dance set or a lead that draws out priority for safe entry. Watch out when opponents carry priority or Fake Out reads.
In doubles, Speed Boost is slower to come online because the two-on-two field pressure rarely gives a safe Protect turn, and 70/70 defenses collapse under spread moves or focus fire. Viable with dedicated support but unreliable without it.
Playstyle:Pair with Fake Out or Taunt support to clear speed threats and buy safe turns for Speed Boost; alternatively use Tailwind or Sticky Web setters so Blaziken has a speed edge from turn 1. Avoid hard-switching in — confirm the matchup first.
