Pokémon Champions, competitive play explained
Pokémon Champions is the official competitive battle platform. The format is doubles, “bring 6, pick 4”: both players reveal their six, then have 90 seconds to decide which four to send. Unlike casual play, competitive battling is about synergy, speed tiers and prediction — who moves first, who one-shots whom, and what the opponent’s core is weak to. All of that is something you can calculate and practice, and BadgeCoach turns that maths and practice into tools so you spend less time guessing.
The current metagame: Reg M-B
This season runs Regulation M-B: Mega Evolution is back (one per team), with no Tera, Dynamax or Z-Moves; EVs use a stat-point system and IVs are locked at 31. Familiar faces like sun Charizard, rain Pelipper, physical Garchomp and Intimidate Kingambit are still core, while newcomers such as Good-as-Gold Gholdengo, screens Grimmsnarl and Contrary Staraptor have carved out their own archetypes. To get up to speed on what’s strong and how it’s built, browse the Pokédex and top-ladder teams.
A workflow with this site
- Find ideas in top-ladder teams, or build fundamentals from the beginner lessons;
- Open the damage calculator to check “does this move actually kill?”, with every multiplier broken out rather than hidden;
- Check the speed tiers to confirm who’s faster, then tune and export in the team builder;
- When a lead choice is unclear in-game, run the screenshot through the AI Coach.
