Mega Barbaracle switches to Rock/Fighting with Tough Claws, and Shell Smash lets it burst damage out of nowhere — but six weakness types (Water, Ground, Steel, Fighting, Grass, Psychic) mean it needs dedicated team support rather than a free slot.
Playstyle:The game plan: hold the Mega Stone, get a Shell Smash off, then clean with Tough Claws-boosted contact moves (Cross Chop, Stone Edge, Razor Shell). Without Tera, shoring up its many weaknesses falls to teammates (pivots, redirection). Best used as a late-game cleaner against weakened foes.
In doubles, Shell Smash setup is harder to pull off safely, and Mega Barbaracle's six weaknesses become even more exposed on a crowded field. Its Tough Claws physical output gives it a role as a cleaner, but it's not a mainstream VGC pick.
Playstyle:If used in doubles, pair it with Fake Out or Follow Me support to safely land Shell Smash, then sweep. But with two opponents pressuring simultaneously and six weaknesses, it will draw focused fire and fold quickly without precise sequencing.
