What it does
X-Scissor is a Bug-type physical contact move with standard damage and zero side effects. Bug hits Grass, Psychic, and Dark for super-effective damage — all three appear consistently in the Champions meta. No frills, just coverage.
The lack of secondary effects is a feature. You know exactly what you get every time you click it: clean damage. No accuracy checks, no random procs, no situational conditions. That predictability makes it a reliable number you can put into damage calculations without asterisks.
80 base power with Kleavor's Attack stat and Bug STAB produces serious numbers against Psychic and Dark targets. If the matchup lines up, one X-Scissor frequently threatens a KO.
Who runs it
Kleavor carries X-Scissor at 58% — over half its sets run both Stone Axe and X-Scissor. The two moves cover entirely different super-effective matchups: Stone Axe handles Fire, Flying, and Ice; X-Scissor handles Grass, Psychic, and Dark. Together they leave very few common types with a resistance to both. Opponents can't easily build a defensive answer to Kleavor that holds up across both coverage slots.
How to use it
Psychic-types are the primary trigger to click X-Scissor. Psychic types show up frequently in doubles, many of them have decent Special Attack but below-average physical Defense — X-Scissor hits the physical side and Bug is super-effective. A well-played prediction here often scores a fast KO.
Dark-types respond the same way. If the opponent brings a Dark-type that resists or avoids Stone Axe's coverage, X-Scissor is the answer. Similarly, if Ground- or Water-types come in to resist Rock, switching to X-Scissor avoids throwing damage away into a resistance.
In doubles, an opponent who sees Kleavor on the team will try to remove it quickly, especially if they're running Psychic. Speed matters here — confirm that Kleavor moves first before trying to go for the super-effective hit.
Tips & strategy
Keep the two moves straight: X-Scissor for Grass, Psychic, Dark matchups; Stone Axe for Flying, Fire, Ice matchups. Both moves exist to cover the gaps the other leaves. Using the wrong move on a resistant target wastes a turn and damage investment.
Fire, Flying, Fighting, Ghost, Steel, and Fairy types all resist Bug. These three types are common. Against them, X-Scissor contributes almost nothing — switch to Stone Axe or reassess.
X-Scissor's neutrality — no upside procs, no downside risks — means it's a stable baseline. Build around it as a coverage tool: when the matchup is right, click immediately. When it isn't, don't.
