What it does
Alluring Voice is a Fairy-type special move that deals damage. If the target had any of their stats raised during the same turn, they also become confused. Confusion gives a roughly 33% chance to hurt itself each turn instead of acting normally.
The trigger condition is broader than it sounds. It fires on any stat increase the target received that turn — Dragon Dance, Swords Dance, Quiver Dance, Bulk Up, even boosts given by an ally through items or moves. The stat just has to have gone up on that same turn. If nothing went up, Alluring Voice is just a Fairy-type special attack with no secondary effect — which is why it only appears at 11% usage.
Who runs it
Alcremie carries Alluring Voice in about 11% of teams. For a Pokémon built around supporting with Decorate, having one attacking move prevents opponents from ignoring it entirely. The Fairy STAB matters because Dragon-types are threatened by it regardless of whether confusion procs — a Dragon Dance Gyarados sitting in front of Alcremie knows the Alluring Voice is coming.
This is a matchup-specific pick. You bring it when you expect the opponent to run a setup sweeper, and you accept that in games where nobody uses a stat-raising move, it's a vanilla Fairy hit.
How to use it
The guaranteed confusion window is the turn immediately after your opponent uses a setup move. If Gyarados just used Dragon Dance, click Alluring Voice — the confusion triggers automatically because that stat was raised this turn. You're converting their momentum turn directly into a coin-flip loss.
In doubles, the condition also fires if a partner boosted the target's stats on the same turn. If the opponent's partner used a move that raised the target's stats — think certain abilities or support moves — that qualifies too. Check carefully: Helping Hand doesn't raise stats, it boosts damage output, so it won't trigger confusion.
During team preview, if you see known setup threats — Gyarados, Hawlucha, Dragonite — Alluring Voice becomes a live answer to their core strategy.
Tips & strategy
Confusion is a disruption tool, not a lockdown. The opponent can switch out to remove it, and a 33% chance to self-hurt is not a win condition on its own. The move's value is specifically in the window right after a setup turn — punishing the momentum the opponent just invested.
The Fairy typing has standalone value against Dragon-types whether or not confusion fires. Don't only click Alluring Voice when you're hoping for confusion — against a Dragon-type that just Dragon Danced, the super effective Fairy hit is reason enough. The confusion is a bonus that makes a bad situation significantly worse for them.
