What it does
Normal-type moves hit 20% harder. No HP cost, no lock. Non-Normal moves get nothing.
Who runs it
Kangaskhan at 92% isn't surprising once you understand Parental Bond: every move hits twice (second hit is 0.25× the first). The effective multiplier is 1.25× — not huge on its own, but Parental Bond's real value is that it splits damage into two hits, which breaks Focus Sash and Sturdy, chips through Multiscale, and lets moves like Power-Up Punch stack their Attack boost twice in one turn.
With Life Orb, Kangaskhan takes 10% HP recoil each time it attacks — regardless of how many times Parental Bond hits. That's sustainable if you only attack three or four times, but Kangaskhan is often the primary sweeper and needs five, six, seven attacks across a game. The cumulative cost is real. Silk Scarf's ×1.2 delivers meaningful damage without that HP drain, keeping Kangaskhan healthy enough to keep applying Parental Bond pressure.
Drampa at 19% uses Hyper Voice as primary output and Sap Sipper as a unique defensive tool. Silk Scarf amplifies its main attack without introducing recoil that would conflict with its role as a utility-plus-attacker.
Dragonite at 7% has Extreme Speed as a priority Normal move. Silk Scarf makes that priority cleaner — 20% extra on a first-strike move sometimes decides whether a weakened target survives.
How to use it
Turn 1 with Kangaskhan: Fake Out flinches one target and stops it cold for the turn — a classic doubles opener. Silk Scarf makes that opening play hit harder. Then flow into Return or Double-Edge for Normal STAB damage, or Drain Punch for recovery (Fighting, no Silk Scarf bonus, but keeps HP up).
Tips & strategy
Kangaskhan's 95 Attack is middle-of-the-road. Parental Bond's effective ×1.25 combined with Silk Scarf's ×1.2 produces a ×1.5 effective multiplier — approaching Choice Band damage with no lock-in. That's the math that makes Silk Scarf so dominant at 92%.
Power-Up Punch still delivers its double Attack boost via Parental Bond whether or not Silk Scarf is equipped. But after those boosts stack, every subsequent Normal move benefits from both the accumulated Attack rise and Silk Scarf's ×1.2 simultaneously — the damage quickly becomes extreme.
