What it does
Recycle is a Normal-type status move that gives back the last item the user consumed. It fails outright if you're currently holding anything. Items that were taken away don't count — if Knock Off removed your item, if Trick or Switcheroo swapped it off you, or if Thief, Covet, Pluck, Bug Bite, or Incinerate got rid of it, Recycle can't bring it back. Only items you burned through yourself — triggered berries, for instance — are recoverable.
Who runs it
Appletun at 7%, which is as niche as it gets in Champions format. The idea is a berry loop: trigger Sitrus Berry to recover HP, then Recycle it for a second use later. Appletun is Grass/Dragon, built for bulk rather than speed — it needs multiple turns to get value, and slow matchups are the only place that's realistic.
How to use it
The loop runs like this: HP drops below the Sitrus Berry threshold, berry activates, you use Recycle on a safe turn to recover it, then wait for HP to drop again. Getting two uses out of a berry is real recovery value if you can afford the turns.
In doubles, the catch is that two opponents are attacking simultaneously, so Appletun's bulk gets tested hard. You need a partner who can draw attacks or apply enough pressure that Appletun doesn't just get collapsed on. A redirector or a high-speed threat keeping pressure elsewhere both work.
Tips & strategy
Running Recycle costs a moveslot. Appletun's core moves — Apple Acid, Grav Apple or Dragon Pulse, Protect — already fill most of four slots. Adding Recycle means cutting something real. It only makes sense when you expect a long game and your opponent doesn't carry Knock Off or any of the other item-stripping moves. If they do, the whole plan falls apart before the loop can start.
