Build article →

Build article →
Struggling on the final day, the author built around HD Hippowdon leading to set Stealth Rock and Yawn, opening the field for a sweep with Mega Lucario. Rotom-Wash was added third to cover Garchomp's Earthquake and Primarina, using Light Screen plus Volt Switch to chip Primarina down for Lucario's Meteor Mash. Max-Attack SD Lucario has a high roll to KO physically defensive Hippowdon with Close Combat, and its ExtremeSpeed picks off Delphox, Starmie and Greninja. DD Life Orb Dragonite is the secondary win condition, breaking Aegislash, Skeledirge and Basculegion that Lucario can't handle, while the two Mega candidates force opponents to guess. Alolan Ninetales handles Dragon-types and pairs with Hippowdon for dual screens. The author admits the clear weakness: matchups against Jolly Yache Garchomp or Metagross where Lucario loses the speed tier are basically unwinnable and he just prayed to dodge them.Build article →
The author built a standard team around Hippowdon's Yawn + Protect, using it to reset the field with sand and push opponents into KO range for the Mega in the back. Hippowdon is the glue, with physical bulk investment, handling tempo and forcing draws in bad matchups. Lopunny runs max Attack Fake Out + Power-Up Punch specifically to lock down Mega Greninja, and its threat shapes every lead choice. Aegislash with Spell Tag Shadow Ball + King's Shield cleans up Hippowdon switch-ins and the Archaludon that Starmie baits out. Glimmora lays Toxic Spikes against the Primarina and Mega Charizard Y that Hippowdon hates, and outspeeds opposing Glimmora with Mud Shot. Mega Starmie is ASぶっぱ with Zen Headbutt for Mega Venusaur/Staraptor and Aqua Break for Metagross and Umbreon. Meowscarada carries Foul Play as the only answer to DD Gyarados. The author admits the core is weak and just muscled wins through play, rarely beating properly built Gyarados teams.Build article →
The author's starting point was that even after the new unbans, Hippowdon + Archaludon still felt like the strongest defensive-plus-Stealth-Rock backbone, so the team was built around that pair. For the Mega slot he picked two high-power Megas that mesh with Hippo/Archaludon: Mega Floette as a Fairy Aura special breaker behind Hippo's Yawn cushion, and Mega Starmie as a Huge Power pivot/priority nuke that forces the opponent into predictable leads. The last two slots were originally Kingambit and Basculegion, but Mimikyu, Basculegion and the surging Bulk Up/Iron Defense Metagross were too heavy, so he swapped in Scarf Meowscarada (to check the first two) and Aegislash (which flipped the Metagross matchup completely). Archaludon leads with Rocks and Thunder Wave, Hippo stalls neutral threats with Yawn/Slack Off, and Floette or Starmie snowballs. Author-acknowledged weaknesses: Gholdengo, Baton Pass teams, and Mega Charizard Y when Starmie can't be brought; the Meowscarada slot also isn't fully polished.Build article →
Build article →
The build started from Adamant Mega Gyarados: after one Dragon Dance, Crunch nearly OHKOs the popular Mega Metagross and sweeps its usual teammates like Hydreigon, Primarina and Mimikyu. To set up Gyarados, the author added Leftovers Yawn Sylveon plus a Focus Sash Garchomp carrying both Stealth Rock and Swords Dance — Yawn synergizes beautifully with hazards and setup. Mega Delphox handles what Gyarados struggles with (Mega Meganium, Mega Staraptor, Corviknight, Scizor), and Dazzling Gleam gives it real pressure on Garchomp. Choice Scarf Gholdengo outspeeds Mega Metagross and can Trick a scarf onto Primarina, locking it into Water moves so Gyarados sets up freely. Curse Mimikyu is the answer to Baton Pass Clefable teams. The author calls Sylveon the clear MVP thanks to the team's clean type synergy; the weak point is Hippowdon, and Gyarados lost some steam late in the season once opponents caught on.Build article →
Build article →
Build article →

Futon always wanted a rain team with raw, obvious power, and this season Mega Swampert got unbanned, so he built around a Pelipper + Mega Swampert core that muscles through games while denying weather setters like Hippowdon, Alolan Ninetales and Charizard Y any tempo. Archaludon runs Leftovers + Solid Rock so it can split Electro Beam to punish Meowscarada and Corviknight U-turns; the Choice Scarf went not on Archaludon but on Pelipper, an invisible fast sweeper opponents never account for and the team's key idea. Mega Swampert carries Protect to lock down Charizard Y alongside Scarf Pelipper and Garchomp's Stealth Rock; Iron Defense + Body Press Mega Metagross walls tons of physical attackers and was the season's winning pick. Bulky Focus Sash Garchomp guarantees at least even games versus Mega Raichu Y and lead Archaludon, and Meowscarada mops up Wash Rotom and Hippowdon + Dragonite coBuild article →

Sora just wanted to run Mega Meganium this season because it's cute and strong, and built the team around it. He found it works better in a cycling team than a matchup-based one, so he paired it with Hippowdon as a synergistic pivot. Facing lots of Focus Sash Garchomp + Alolan Ninetales teams mid-season, he ran bulky Choice Scarf Stamina Archaludon to punish those, letting it and Meganium trade the ace and cushion roles. Those three struggled against Delphox and lacked breaking power, so he added Swords Dance Hisuian Samurott, plus Toxapex to reliably wall Greninja and Toxic-Spikes Watchog + Staraptor teams. The last Mega slot went to Substitute + Nasty Plot Delphox for its edge over Metagross. Meganium runs Sub + Synthesis and uses its coverage (Solar Beam + Weather Ball) to beat Steels it can't normally tank; Hippowdon is a bulky lead that controls the field; Toxapex uses Regenerator +Build article →
He started from what he most hated getting hit by back when he used Hippowdon himself, building an aggressive Swords Dance team around Life Orb Wood Hammer Mimikyu that sets up and smashes through, posting high win rates against defensive cycling teams. Mimikyu breaks physical walls like Hippowdon, and even if it can't KO, it opens the door for Mega Scizor; Mega Scizor is the second SD user, using its huge defense plus Roost to sweep even from behind. Hippowdon runs full HD with Stealth Rock, Yawn and Whirlwind, and almost nobody plays around Whirlwind, so it uses Yawn to open turns and sand chip to pull targets into KO range. Choice Scarf Basculegion covers the Fire-types and Hippowdon that Scizor struggles with and can revenge Iron Defense Metagross (though it often gets turned back). Nasty Plot Mega Raichu Y dismantles defensive cores and its pressure lets him read the opponent's pickBuild article →
Sekhme has loved Metagross since grade school and built the team around it this season, then added Hydreigon for its complementary typing. Primarina covers what those two fear (Hydreigon, Hippowdon, Hisuian Samurott, Umbreon) with broad answers. Wanting a second axis, he added Gengar to pressure the things Metagross gets walled by (Slowbro, Scovillain, Archaludon, Corviknight, Skeledirge). He rounded it out with Garchomp for a Ground slot and Wash Rotom to cover the Garchomp, Kingambit, Scizor and Aegislash both Megas fear, while also crushing rain. Metagross runs Tough Claws with Iron Head + Psychic Fangs + Thunder Punch, using its post-Mega speed to pressure and fish for flinches; Choice Scarf Hydreigon is the cushion and enabler for both Megas, leading with U-turn to scout before deploying the aces, and he rates it highly. Focus Sash Garchomp is the role-breaker (especially versus VenBuild article →
Mia took this team to 29th at the close of Season M-3. The core is Mega Dragonite, chosen because it handles the wave of newly added threats from M-B (Mega Metagross, Mega Blaziken, Mega Staraptor, Mega Mawile, Gholdengo, Annihilape) while its own counter, Mega Floette, had dropped in usage. Aegislash covers Dragonite's ice and fairy weaknesses; a Focus Sash Glimmora leads to lay toxic spikes and trade with most openers; a bulky Hippowdon is the physical wall cushion; and Choice Scarf Meowscarada handles the otherwise-heavy Mega Gyarados and Greninja. The second Mega slot, Mega Floette, mainly earns value through team-preview pressure. Mia notes many games are won just cycling Dragonite and Aegislash after spikes, with Air Slash flinches and Flamethrower burns stealing extra luck; the weakness is a clear disadvantage into Metagross, covered by the other five.Build article →
Rebo took his classic Lucario + Mimikyu + Hippowdon + Charizard shell to 30th at the close of Season M-3. The build started from newly unlocked Life Orb Mimikyu; he'd never liked any item on it before, but the Orb boosts every attack's reach, so he ran max Attack/Speed all-out. Hippowdon goes full physical bulk to firmly wall the newly added Metagross, Blaziken, and Mawile. Charizard keeps its Will-O-Wisp set from last season to pester heavy Hippowdon and its buddies Archaludon and Gyarados. Lucario runs Swords Dance to pair with Yawn Hippowdon, plus Bullet Punch so it can be led into Gengar teams. The last two slots became Choice Scarf Primarina for pivoting plus Perish Song, handling the then-rampant Alolan Ninetales + Garchomp and checking stall and Baton Pass teams. Rebo's main regret: he didn't prepare for the Starmie + Hippowdon + Archaludon core, and kept wishing Lucario had ExtreBuild article →
Tottsuan revived his Gen-7 Blaziken Baton Pass strategy for 31st at the close of Season M-3. The plan: Blaziken uses Speed Boost to stack Attack and Speed, then Baton Passes to Gyarados for a sweep, or Gyarados sets up Dragon Dance itself. Blaziken carries Swords Dance and Baton Pass, with bulk tuned to eat Garchomp's Earthquake and Archaludon/Hydreigon's Draco Meteor, and it also beats Gyarados's problem matchups Meowscarada and Lopunny. Gyarados is the team's only Mega and main pass target; Adamant, so post-Mega +2 Waterfall KOs bulky Hippowdon. Focus Sash Garchomp sets Stealth Rock, cutting Electric's spam while checking both Mega Charizard X and Y. Alolan Ninetales uses Light Clay to extend Aurora Veil and beat opposing bulky Garchomp and Primarina. Rotom-Wash sets up with Thunder Wave and Will-O-Wisp against Metagross, Delphox, Greninja, Primarina, and Hippowdon. Gholdengo covers thBuild article →
Inae's concept is one line: Gyarados is riding a huge tailwind in the meta, so grind hard with it. He reached 34th at the close of Season M-3 singles. He judged that outside Meowscarada and screens teams, nearly everything favors Gyarados. Opponents often leave Gyarados-checking duty to Scarf Garchomp or Meowscarada, so Araquanid lays Sticky Web to turn the tables. Gholdengo, chosen alongside, complements Gyarados typing and shreds walls like Corviknight. When Web isn't needed, Hippowdon serves as the setup lead. To beat the troublesome Blaziken and Lopunny, he added Mega Pinsir for a priority STAB flying move, which also covers the grass types Gyarados dislikes. The last slot is Grimmsnarl to cut Hydreigon's spam and set screens. Inae notes Shuca Berry Gholdengo makes unexpected plays into Garchomp, Hippowdon, and Glimmora, and a sneaky Thunderbolt surprise-KOs opposing Gyarados, SamuroBuild article →
The author built around Mega Gyarados, which changes typing on evolution and uses Mold Breaker to punch through opposing abilities as a sweeper. Since Mega Gyarados is physically frail without Intimidate and hates priority and levitating steel walls, Blaziken was added as a second setup ace with Speed Boost and a check to Meowscarada. Gengar leads to spread Will-O-Wisp and Thunder Wave support while chipping foes; a Choice Scarf Floette cuts off Dragon coverage and pressures Hippowdon. Life Orb Scizor hits key bulk thresholds and pairs perfectly with Garchomp offensively and defensively, while Garchomp itself answers Stealth Rock–Yawn loops and doubles as a sweeper. The author says Mega Staraptor, a Garchomp that trades hits, and a fully preserved Meowscarada were the hardest matchups.Build article →
The author felt setup and momentum teams (Garchomp+Ninetales, Hippowdon, Baton Pass) were everywhere, so the team is built to beat them. The core is Mega Greninja plus Yawn Hippowdon, which are favored against Ninetales-Garchomp and Hippowdon-Archaludon lines; after grabbing a numbers lead, Yawn Hippowdon and Mimikyu apply pressure from the back. To handle Hydreigon-Aegislash and Delphox-Samurott offense, a specially bulky Aegislash cycles with Hippowdon, and the sand even effectively boosts Aegislash's power. Choice Scarf Meowscarada covers Water types and Gyarados, while Curse Mimikyu patches Baton Pass and Clefable. Underperforming Mega Staraptor was swapped for Dragonite. The author says fewer Fairy-type Archaludons made things easier, and that deliberately conceding a few bad matchups to be favored against common cores is the key; Glimmora, Pyroar, Mawile, Umbreon-Toxapex, and max-sBuild article →
The author started from Delphox, which checks the new Mega Blaziken, Metagross, Staraptor and Dragalge. To cover Delphox's weakness to Mimikyu and physical attackers, Hippowdon was paired in, plus Meowscarada to pressure the Water/Ghost/Dark types those three all struggle against. Since this Hippowdon runs no Stealth Rock, a specially bulky Archaludon that both sets rocks and synergizes with Hippowdon was added. Finding special Fire Megas and rain tough, and that Delphox often couldn't be brought against Starmie teams, a screens Alolan Ninetales plus Mega Gyarados were added as a second core. Delphox runs Nasty Plot plus two STABs and Grass Knot, the last being what lets it beat problem Water types and justify bringing it. Choice Scarf Meowscarada, with high Attack plus sand, nearly OHKOs uninvested Hisuian Samurott. The author names manual Toxic Spikes, Delphox/Charizard Y, and especialBuild article →
