The build started from a Leftovers physically-defensive Gyarados plus a bulky Hippowdon, a cycle pair that handles most random matchups and reliably opens a lane for the Mega slot. Mega Glimmora was picked first since it loves Hippowdon's sand and bullies almost anything; Aegislash was added to cycle with Gyarados, check Archaludon, and act as the team's only real answer to Floette outside sand Glimmora. Lopunny took the second Mega slot to steamroll teams that obviously can't wall it. After trying Scarf Hydreigon and Scarf Meowscarada and finding them too weak (and losing to Delphox), the author landed on Scarf Gallade to outspeed Basculegion and Lopunny while threatening Delphox with Night Slash. Gyarados is the MVP—Water/Ice/Grass coverage cleanly handles Garchomp and Primarina, and Intimidate enables pivots into Aegislash's Shadow Ball or Hippowdon's Yawn. The author built around the fact that Garchomp and Archaludon were everywhere in this meta, so he started with Focus Sash Mamoswine as a reliable answer to both — Endeavor plus Ice Shard forces a brutal mind game against rocks setters. He paired it with Mega Charizard Y to mop up the things Mamoswine struggles into (Primarina, Corviknight, Scizor) and added Lum Berry Mimikyu as a Swords Dance sweeper, making that trio his bread-and-butter lead. The remaining three plug specific holes: Yache Berry bulky Archaludon walls Mega Lopunny's +2 Close Combat and also handles Sash Ceruledge and Hisuian Samurott; Mega Starmie with Flip Turn answers Mega Glimmora and Mega Delphox while pivoting into Archaludon; Primarina covers leads like Choice Scarf male Basculegion, Mega Dragonite, Hydreigon and Ceruledge. The author kept last season's Hippowdon + Glimmora core, but cut Gardevoir (low selection rate) and slotted in Mega Meganium to punish opponents who tailor their picks against Hippo + Glimmora. The plan: Hippowdon sets Stealth Rock and walls physical attackers, Glimmora handles Charizard/Dragonite lines and Water-type pressure, Hydreigon answers Delphox, Basculegion and Starmie, Aegislash blocks the Ice spam and beats Lucario/Floette, and Gyarados uses Thunder Wave to support the Mega and Glimmora while baiting Scarf Meowscarada/Samurott/Garchomp. Hippowdon runs a point of Attack for Ice Fang, which catches Garchomp off-guard and can even crack Dragonite + Aegislash cores. The Aegislash build is borrowed from Bonkohu—fast Spell Tag set with King's Shield over Close Combat to outpace Mega Scizor and Corviknight. Strength: flexible picks that break type spam. Glimmora leads to lay Toxic Spikes, Mega Delphox breaks through with coverage that hits both Steel and Poison, and Umbreon stalls with Wish + Protect. This time Mega Delphox runs Protect + Encore to lock Choice Scarf Dark-types like Hydreigon and Meowscarada, while managing poison turns and Wish timing. With a speed creep tweak, Glimmora's Mud Shot plus Delphox's Fire Blast now KOs SpDef Archaludon, solving the team's worst matchup. Toxapex with Toxic Spikes covers Primarina, Mimikyu, Volcarona and Conkeldurr. Scarf Mimikyu handles Rain Archaludon via Destiny Bond and tricks SpDef Garchomp/Primarina to open lanes. The build starts from a single idea: run Stealth Rock plus Grassy Terrain Mega Meganium, using the speed boost to flip matchups against the very mons that usually beat it. Specially defensive Sitrus Archaludon sets the rock and lures in Ground and Fighting attackers that Meganium loves to set up on, while Mirror Coat even punishes Sun Charizard Y. Choice Scarf Basculegion (Adamant) is the third pick, since Water/Ghost neatly covers Meganium's Poison/Fire/Ice/Steel weaknesses and stays useful from turn one to endgame. Mega Lopunny with Swords Dance and Mach Punch handles what Meganium can't—Poison cores and Meowscarada plus another Mega—with Mega Kick added for Poison-types. Sash Gengar opens vs Mega Clefable and Mega Floette, and defensive Iron Defense/Body Press Corviknight covers Mimikyu, Scizor and Garchomp.
