Build article →

The whole team revolves around a Curse-Baton-Pass plus White Herb Unburden chain: Sylveon drops its Speed with Curse, Baton Passes to Sneasler, the Herb triggers Unburden for doubled Speed and boosted offenses, and Sneasler sweeps from an angle the opponent never sees. Leads are Stealth Rock setters that avoid lead disadvantage, Archaludon or Garchomp, with Sylveon as the relay. Sneasler is the true ace (Fatal Claw, Close Combat, Drain Punch, Swords Dance), picked over 80% of games. Two Megas patch gaps: Mega Gyarados uses Taunt and Dragon Dance to bully Hippowdon and break Meowscarada via Mold Breaker, while Mega Scizor, added in the final three days, answers Mega Venusaur and the Hippowdon-Meowscarada pair. The author admits it's a one-ace build, so losing Sneasler usually loses; worst matchups are Mega Victreebel, Mega Venusaur with Skeledirge, Mega Scovillain, and Garchomp with Mega Build article →
Build article →
Build article →
Public ladder roster; no detailed set is available for this team.
The author's core lead is Archaludon + Basculegion + Mega Lopunny: Archaludon sets Stealth Rock and chips with Draco Meteor until the opposing team is in KO range for Basculegion and Lopunny, who then sweep with raw power. Mega Lopunny is invested in HP/Def to survive Garchomp's Outrage, runs enough Speed to outpace base 130s at neutral nature, and a +2 Triple Axel can roll past max Hippowdon. Basculegion started on Choice Scarf but was switched to a max Attack Wave Crash set so it could OHKO Hippowdon while still picking moves freely. Because Garchomp was such a headache, Corviknight (Brave Bird + Taunt) and Meowscarada were added later. In the last three days Mega Meganium was swapped for max-Speed Mega Glimmora with Energy Ball to punish the Hippowdon switch-ins and to stop losing to Mega Charizard X/Y and Gengar. The author admits the build was clearly targeted once it hit top-100 and bled rating from there.Build article →
After trying several Megas the author liked the feel of Wrap Mega Victreebel best and made it the core. Mega Victreebel runs the Cud Chew-style ability with Leaf Storm, Wrap, Encore and Power Whip, but it can't dent steels or bind Ghosts, so the build adds the format's king Garchomp as Ground coverage and Hisui Samurott as the Dark answer that also stops Basculegion. That still got pushed around by Corviknight and U-turn Scizor, so Volcarona joined as a regular Fire mon with STAB into Garchomp, locking the core. In practice Mega Victreebel could only one-for-one Mega Dragonite and Charizard, Primarina was hard to handle cleanly, and Mega Lopunny was a bit awkward, so the back Mega was tuned and eventually landed on bulk-invested Mega Glimmora. Finally Scarf Alola Ninetales was added to cut Dragon coverage and pivot into Garchomp, Glimmora's natural predator, completing the team.Build article →
The keyword for this team is pressure: every member intimidates the opponent into freezing up, so you push one threat through, which is why nearly 40% of games went non-Mega. The core is Archaludon plus Hippowdon. Archaludon (Roar, Stealth Rock, Mirror Coat, Draco Meteor) sets rocks, avoids being a setup target, and Mirror Coats special hits; the author flat-out calls it a god Pokemon, and with Protect Hippowdon it forms a fortress Stealth Rock cycle while Hippowdon also beats Choice Scarf Basculegion head-on. Mega Lopunny abuses No Guard Close Combat plus Substitute, Encore, and Swords Dance to steal games off Yawn users and walls like Corviknight. Sash Swords Dance Garchomp with Fire Fang specifically answers Mega Scizor. Mega Floette is the strongest Mega when unprepared for but rarely got brought, and Choice Scarf Basculegion hits hard but is hardest to push through. The author's worBuild article →

Last season the author ran a physically defensive Pelipper with Dragon Tail Hisuian Goodra, but Pelipper was always too slow against its targets and got weather-overwritten by Hippowdon and Mega Charizard Y. This time Pelipper is Choice Scarf so it outspeeds and pressures threats like Garchomp, Sneasler, Charizard, Dragonite, Mega Lopunny and Mega Gengar with Hurricane and rain-boosted water moves. Hisuian Goodra is the special wall lead, running mixed Heavy Slam, Draco Meteor, EQ and Dragon Tail to break fairies, hit Hippowdon, and phaze setup or Dragonite's Multiscale. Mega Lopunny (Adamant) complements female Basculegion's coverage and cleans with Swords Dance. Mega Meganium breaks Bellibolt-style stall walls, and Hisuian Samurott with Sash sets Spikes to chip stall cores. The author admits female Basculegion struggles this meta because Scarf Meowscarada outspeeds it and Mimikyu/Ceruledge Shadow Sneak revenge-kill it, and the team goes 0% versus hazard setup teams.Build article →
The author is a veteran of the Mega era who wanted to use their most comfortable Venusaur and a beloved Gyarados; they love cycle teams but got crushed by setup last season, so this time they went for a matchup-based, low-brainpower plan, referencing a respected player's 19th-place build from last season. Mega Venusaur is the core, built for physical bulk to wall Lopunny, Kangaskhan, and Garchomp, then forcing Sleep Powder on a favorable matchup and grabbing advantage during the unexpected sleep turns; the author just calls it strong. Volcarona is a Sword/Shield-era mon, a bulky build that outspeeds Lopunny after one Quiver Dance, able to sweep or set up for teammates and even beat Charizard Y. Mega Gyarados is brutal even used carelessly, dancing and smashing, often coming out as a double Mega with Venusaur. Aegislash is the reliable cycle veteran, filling holes against Floette, ArchaluBuild article →
This is the selection-and-piloting companion piece after the author took over a friend's Garchomp + Umbreon + Gengar team; the build details live in the original author's separate article. He lays out his selections: the core three play a slow cycle aiming for wins or draws, with stable-but-high-roll potential from Stealth Rock plus the occasional Garchomp Stone Edge or Rock Slide flinch, used about half the time. Against Lopunny, Venusaur, Hippowdon + Mega Glimmora, or Blastoise that the core struggles with, he swaps to Garchomp + Meowscarada + Scizor; with Hippowdon-Glimmora cores common late season, this saw the most use. Against setup teams like Espathra baton or Vivillon, he brings Skeledirge to answer head-on. His own take: running Umbreon Yawn/Wish openly signals he is fishing for draws, so high-roll means full aggression and low-roll means going for the tie. With clean play one oBuild article →
Excadrill is the author's favourite, so he built a sand team from it, skipping the new Mega to keep Sand Rush and outspeed fast threats under sand. Hippowdon sets the weather with heavy Special Defense so it can stand its ground against both physical and special hits while laying Stealth Rock for Excadrill. Mega Charizard Y is the core idea: rewriting the weather resets the sand counter, so re-sending Hippowdon gives five fresh sand turns, and with Roost it cycles alongside Hippowdon to grind opponents down before Excadrill cleans up, while also handling Water, Grass, and Corviknight. For coverage, Leftovers Archaludon with Metal Sound and Substitute answers Mega Starmie, Skarmory, and Bellibolt stall cores; Lum Berry Mimikyu deals with Mega Lopunny and Mega Delphox; Mega Gyarados uses Dragon Dance to overrun Mega Dragonite and Garchomp that the core struggles with, plus Power Whip for WBuild article →
Build article →
Build article →
This is a Mega Charizard X matchup-oriented team that went through many revisions: from a Charizard Y core to X — same look, so it baits misreads — with Hisuian Samurott as a lead to set up. Mega Charizard X is the Dragon Dance sweeper that usually wins once it gets going. Hisuian Samurott is the team MVP, solving X's three problems alone: Ceaseless Edge attacks while laying Spikes to neuter enemy Focus Sashes, Encore locks foes to give X a safe Dragon Dance, and Ice Beam into Aqua Jet handles its nemesis Garchomp. Archaludon is a breaker and matchup piece, using Focus Energy for guaranteed crits to muscle through Clefable and bulky setup, while a max-Speed Basculegion with Mystic Water finishes games and answers Hippowdon, outspeeding even max Choice Scarf Garchomp after Agility. Mega Floette and Garchomp are mostly selection lures — the author admits he can't pilot Mega Floette and senBuild article →
This is a role-logic write-up of an all-physical team of five Megas; the author reused last season's strong version and tweaked for the meta: with more Hydreigon around he swapped Basculegion for a Charcoal Urshifu that holds up better against it, and with more psychic-move Floette he swapped Glimmora for Runerigus. The team is built to leave no opening to Aegislash and Lopunny, since the former's strong Shadow Ball plus Fighting coverage is a nightmare and the latter's Swords Dance is often game-over; every member carries a super-effective move on Aegislash, and all but Gyarados can OHKO Lopunny. The cores: Mega Heracross breaks walls with 185 Attack and wide coverage, beating mixed Meowscarada and Mega Glimmora; Mega Tyranitar tanks Charizard and Dragonite, leaning on sand chip and dual bulk; Mega Gyarados is still the answer to Garchomp, Basculegion, and Blastoise, though Swords DanceBuild article →
The author dislikes heavy mindgames and prefers teams with a clear gameplan, so after struggling with Trick Room in M-1 they pivoted to a setup-cycle build that lets their favorite Gardevoir shine. Mega Gardevoir is locked in as the lead every single game, with Modest plus bulk EVs to live Garchomp's Earthquake and an 87.5% roll vs Mega Gengar's Sludge Wave, blasting through Garchomp, Archaludon and Mega Gengar with Hyper Voice, Psyshock and Calm Mind. Mimikyu is the cleaner with Spell Tag specifically to KO Basculegion; Gyarados runs Lum Berry to dodge Yawn/WoW and DD sweep; Garchomp with Sash + SD covers Mega Glimmora and uses Fire Fang on Corviknight and Scizor; Volcarona is the second setup wincon via Quiver Dance; Aegislash-Shield is the safety net. Author admits Stealth Rock plus widespread Rock coverage really hurts Volcarona, and Play Rough misses sometimes cost games.Build article →
