The author is a Volcarona devotee who built around a classic Stealth Rock + Yawn setup leading into a sweeper. Instead of standard rockers like Garchomp or Hippowdon, they chose Focus Sash Hydreigon: it floats, carries Taunt to shut down opposing Hippowdon leads, and is hard to read — Dark Pulse spam often baits opponents into reading it as Scarf before pivoting to Draco Meteor or Taunt. Sylveon is the Yawn user, picked over Slurpuff for Hyper Voice's investment-free damage and Wish support, with bulky HB spread to tank physicals. Mega Blastoise is the main Shell Smash sweeper (Hydro Pump over Water Pulse to actually finish kills), with Volcarona as a secondary sweeper holding Kebia… actually Kasib — Wacan Berry to survive priority Water moves from Mega Starmie and Basculegion. Aegislash with Spooky Plate pressures Primarina-style switch-ins, and Mega Skarmory rounds it out as a physical setup sweeper that crushes stall and covers Meowscarada. Hardest matchups: Calm Mind Primarina, Meowscarada, Kingambit, Gengar, and Bellibolt cores, which they grind down with Hydreigon's Taunt and rocks.Build article →

The author wanted fast ladder games due to a busy work schedule, so he built a straightforward matchup-based team. Mega Blastoise (no Shell Smash, bulky spread) is the centerpiece — it tanks a hit and answers back with priority Aqua Jet. To cover Hippowdon and Corviknight, he runs Mystic Water Adaptability Basculegion, whose Wave Crash punches through bulky Milotic and Umbreon. Sash Garchomp sets Stealth Rock turn one; Rock Tomb specifically handles Charizard and Gyarados, and Adamant lets him outroll Jolly Garchomp under Scale Shot. Mimikyu carries Cursed Charm so a +2 Shadow Sneak picks off Basculegion. Scarf Sneasler outspeeds Mega Lopunny, +1 Gyarados and Scarf Garchomp, and Switcheroo onto Corviknight wrecks the opponent's plan. Mega Scizor is the secondary mega when Blastoise matches up poorly. He says the team feels very stable; the main weakness is Blastoise lacking Ice Beam, so Primarina must be chipped before sending it in.Build article →
The author saw a streamer using Mega Lopunny with Fake Out + Hi Jump Kick + Giga Impact and loved its raw matchup power, so he built around it. The supporting cast was borrowed from a previous top-16 list, with Scovillain swapped to a Hypnosis/Destiny Bond Mega Gengar in the last three days to deal with Venusaur. Lopunny runs physical bulk to tank max-Attack Garchomp's Outrage plus Rough Skin chip and was led almost every game. Scarf Garchomp uses Rock Tomb to dodge Gyarados setup and Flamethrower-line Flamethrower (actually Fire Blast) to nuke bulk-up Mega Scizor. Basculegion with Mystic Water tears Hippowdon apart and, retuned to physical bulk, also bullies Mega Scizor, Garchomp and other physical threats — co-MVP with Lopunny. Mimikyu with Pin Missile-like Pin Lens + Swords Dance fills the Giga Impact recharge turn, and Mega Gengar handles stall and Venusaur. Hard matchups: leftovers Protect Hippowdon, the Mega Lopunny mirror, and Hippowdon + Meowscarada + Dragonite, where Dragonite resists everything Basculegion throws.Build article →
The team is built around running cycle battles with Mega Florges or Mega Delphox as the core. The author borrowed Hippowdon and Archaludon from a friend's build and filled the rest with mons he was comfortable on. Mega Delphox uses Mystical Fire plus Will-O-Wisp to handle both physical and special threats, with Encore locking opponents down. Because he hated facing Primarina, he added the bulkier Mega Florges, which he felt was off-meta enough to surprise people and snowball with Draining Kiss. Archaludon, once Stamina pops, basically can't be broken and dismantles teams with Dragon Tail. Lum Berry Swords Dance Garchomp sets up on Hippowdon and eats one layer of Toxic Spikes. Meowscarada runs Sash with Overgrow, Taunt and Sucker Punch — the unusual Taunt blanks bulky leads. The author lists Mega Clefable, Mega Lucario, Protean Greninja and Mimikyu as his worst matchups, which caused his late-day losing streak.Build article →
After flopping with a cycle team the previous season, the author noticed the ladder was full of Choice Scarf users and decided to skip the speed race entirely with priority. Mega Scizor with Swords Dance became the core: huge priority damage plus a wide coverage set (Bullet Punch / Close Combat / Knock Off / Swords Dance). Hippowdon (Stealth Rock + Yawn) and Hisuian Samurott (Spikes, Black Glasses, Encore) provide hazards and crush stall, while max-Speed Mega Charizard X handles fire types and Mega Dragonite that Scizor cannot. Primarina shifted to a Fairy Feather + Misty Terrain set so it OHKOs physically-defensive Garchomp and breaks Yawn loops from Hippowdon. A Sash Garchomp/Mega Glimmora draft was replaced by White Herb max-Speed Archaludon as a flexible lead. The author feels the team is nearly auto-win versus Mega Lopunny squads and very strong into stall, but wins above 2300 leaned on matchup luck.Build article →
The build started from Mega Blastoise: after Shell Smash it covers Dark, Fighting and Water and bullies almost anything 1v1. The catches are Primarina, Choice Scarf Meowscarada, plus Mega Floette and Bellibolt who survive +2 hits, so Mega Scizor was added to punch through those checks—Blastoise leads when the matchup opens up, otherwise Scizor cleans. Since Scizor struggles vs the common Dragonite and Charizard, Archaludon was picked as the Stealth Rock setter, max Speed to win the mirror and outpace Modest Charizard. Greninja brings a Torrent-boosted Dark Pulse nuke, Mimikyu handles Basculegion, Mega Dragonite and especially Mega Floette (which tanks +2 Water Pulse from Blastoise) while outspeeding max Mega Gyarados, and Volcarona runs physically defensive to wall Lopunny but can still sweep with Quiver Dance, outspeeding max Mega Lucario at +1. Author admits Scizor's bulk pleasantly surprised him, but he couldn't close out a top-10 finish against the very best.Build article →
The author felt the format lacked strong Ice-types and that Fairies besides Mega Floette were underpowered, so he built around Mega Dragonite paired with a Fairy that breaks Dragon coverage, settling on Sitrus + Encore Primarina as the starting core. He then added Scarf Garchomp to handle fast Megas and dish out damage, plus Swords Dance Mimikyu as a matchup piece and breaker. Perish Mega Gengar serves as a second Mega, crushing tricky Mega Floette and ignoring Encore from threats like Mega Clefable that the team otherwise loses to. Iron Defense Corviknight rounds it out as a cushion that pairs well with Gengar. Mega Dragonite snipes weakened foes with Draco+Extreme Speed and freely Air Slashes slower targets; Gengar uses Destiny Bond after Perish Song to guarantee KOs. The usual lead is Primarina + a Mega + one filler. Stated weaknesses: Sash Gengar, Mega Glimmora, Stealth Rock + Taunt Mega Archaludon, Bellibolt and Vanilluxe.Build article →

The author built around Mega Scizor, valuing Swords Dance + Bullet Punch's revenge-kill potential and U-turn pivoting. Hippowdon provides Stealth Rock support to wear down Fire-types so Bullet Punch can sweep. Scarf Hydreigon is the fast cleaner that comes in on favorable matchups, and Calm Mind Primarina handles bulky walls like Corviknight and Hippowdon that the core struggles with. To break Corviknight cycles specifically, a secondary Mega Dragonite with Sub + Roost + Toxic Spikes pressure was added, supported by Sash Greninja as the Toxic Spikes setter who also threatens Clefable. Scizor's bulky spread lets both Megas scout in non-Mega form before committing. The author notes Rocks + U-turn chip massively limits Fire switch-ins; Primarina saw little use outside Blastoise matchups and has room to improve; admitted hard losses are Galarian Slowking and Toxapex.Build article →
This is an evolution of the author's previous Hawlucha baton-pass build. The plan is to lead Clefable as a setup pivot, then sweep with a boosted backline. Clefable is maxed for bulk so it survives Timid Archaludon's Steel Beam and non-Mega-Charizard-Y-equivalent Hydro Wave from Mega Gengar, then plants paralysis, Stealth Rock, Encore or Memento before stepping out. Hawlucha with Sitrus + Bulk Up is the real ace, often sweeping clean; Kingambit runs Sword Dance + Sucker Punch alongside Clefable's Encore for double mind-games; Sash Volcarona handles Gengar/Hippowdon/Archaludon cores. New addition Dragon Fang Garchomp breaks the Umbreon + Skeledirge / Delphox cycle cores—+2 Outrage OHKOs HB Umbreon after rocks. Basculegion swapped to Spell Tag with bulk to tank Starmie reliably. The author credits success to a tight, patterned selection and maintaining triple-digit ladder on two accounts; pain points are lead Sash Ceruledge, Aura Sphere Archaludon, back-row Encore Lopunny/Delphox, Starmie cycles, and Lopunny + Aegislash.Build article →
The author's plan is to avoid losing the lead matchup, then sweep with a boosted attacker. The build started from a Mega Floette + Mega Charizard X combo seen on Raigeki: Charizard X runs Dragon Dance + Flame Charge so it can outspeed even Scarf Garchomp after a boost (Swords Dance felt like overkill). Bulky Floette pairs with Espathra via Speed-Boost Baton Pass; one pass is often enough to sweep. Hisuian Samurott on Focus Sash leads against Archaludon, Starmie and Basculegion, sets Spikes and chips defense with Shell Smash-style Razor Shell to set up Charizard. Vanilluxe is the MVP, putting up Aurora Veil while tanking even max Flash Cannon from Archaludon, giving Charizard a safe DD turn and baiting Steels away from Floette's Moonblast. Scarf Garchomp cleans up and carries Fire Fang specifically for Scizor. The author's stated weakness: Corviknight — only Charizard can handle it, and once Zard goes down with Corv still alive, the game is basically over.Build article →
The author is a returning Gen 7 player whose specialty has always been Perish Song Gengar matchup teams, and he brought the same blueprint over to Champions. The plan is to open with Archaludon or Basculegion to wreck the lead, swing tempo with Gengar using Perish Song + Substitute + Shadow Ball, then close with Umbreon or Choice Scarf Garchomp. Archaludon runs Dragon Fang + Protect so Lopunny's Fake Out can't break Sturdy, and Draco Meteor reliably OHKOes Hippowdon and Mimikyu. Basculegion uses Flip Turn to pivot Gengar in safely against Focus Sash Glimmora, Garchomp or Mamoswine leads. Gengar is max Speed for the mirror with enough SpA to trade with Corviknight and Rotom. Umbreon brings Yawn pivoting plus a Fairy/Fighting answer, while Garchomp packs Fire Fang for Corviknight and Scizor. He admits Lopunny is pure RNG and he stopped using it the last three days; Mimikyu, Grassy Glide Floette, Espathra and Blastoise are real problems.Build article →
Build article →

The author set out to build something that looks like a stall/cycle team but is actually a setup team. Samurott, Garchomp and Hippowdon lay hazards, Slowking and Hippowdon put threats to sleep with Yawn, and Lopunny sweeps. The default lead trio is Samurott + Slowking + Lopunny. Bulky Samurott handles opposing Garchomp leads with Icy Wind into Ceaseless Edge, using Knock Off to pivot out against bad matchups like Primarina, Floette and Archaludon. Slowking runs Future Sight + Sludge Bomb + Yawn + Toxic, looping Yawn pressure and using Future Sight + Toxic + Lopunny Close Combat to crack stall cores. Lopunny's role is to Encore status moves or setup the opponent throws at Slowking, then sweep with Swords Dance; Triple Axel is there to hit Mimikyu and Dragonite checks. Sash Garchomp covers Gyarados and Charizard leads, Hippowdon is the sturdier swap-in, and Mega Charizard Y is a Scizor lure that rarely sees the field. The author feels the team breaks stall well but suffers from shaky accuracy and risky 50/50s on Sash Garchomp.Build article →
Build article →
Build article →

After two months in this Mega-on, Tera-off format the author still couldn't make cycle teams click — win rate stuck around 50% — so he committed to a matchup-based offense built around a strong lead. Mega Victreebel trades at least 1-for-1 against most of the popular leads (Lopunny, Charizard, Floette, Garchomp, Gyarados, Meowscarada, Gengar), making it the anchor. Thick Fat Self-Destruct Snorlax follows up to either KO the second mon or blow it up, while Focus Sash Basculegion with Agility cleans up. The last three slots all exist to handle Archaludon: Flapple with G-Max Steelsurge stops Mimikyu and Clefable cold, Sitrus Primarina baits in Hisuian Samurott and Hydreigon when Basculegion is shown, and Mega Delphox dismantles stall. Confessed weak spots: Archaludon itself, Wish Delphox, Baton Pass Floette, Minimize Starmie, and any fast flinch user.Build article →
