The author started the final day at 2100 and climbed to 2421 in seven hours using a pure offense-oriented team, earning Champion rank. The core idea was simple: with limited time and a tired brain on the final day, stall and cycle teams were out — fast-paced head-to-head matchups were the way to go. Archaludon with White Herb leads the team, using its wide coverage to trade favorably against most opponents without risk of being punished after Draco Meteor. Mega Lucario is the season MVP, usually sent in second to take out two Pokemon with Close Combat. Greninja on a Focus Sash covers Hippowdon, which both Archaludon and Mimikyu struggle against. Mega Gengar runs a Perish Song plus Mean Look plus Destiny Bond set to dismantle stall teams, while Mimikyu patches holes with its disguise. Basculegion with Choice Scarf is mainly a team preview threat — forcing the opponent to bring counters thBuild article →

Build article →
The team is built around a core of Mega Gengar, Umbreon, and Garchomp. The author's concept began with admiring Mega Gengar and then systematically patching its weaknesses. Will-o-Wisp on Gengar handles slow physical attackers using Earthquake; Umbreon pairs as the ghost/dark sponge and uses Toxic to pressure Hippowdon that Gengar cannot break alone; Scarf Garchomp provides entry hazards safely while also shutting down Substitute Archaludon before it can lock Umbreon. Archaludon with Stamina plus White Herb suppresses any item-dependent opponent. Primarina and Mega Gyarados fill coverage gaps against Lopunny, Espathra, Mimikyu, and Scizor. The author identified two key weaknesses: no answer to fast Mega threats that outspeed Gengar, and Mimikyu naturally punishing the standard lead trio.Build article →
This team is a refinement of the author's previous season squad. The original concept was Sitrus + Swords Dance + Substitute Sneasler using Umbreon as setup fodder, supported by WoW/Magical Fire/Encore Delphox to soften threats and Stealth Rock + Dragon Tail Archaludon for chip, letting Sneasler sweep at the end. Problems arose vs standard balance (Hippowdon/Dragonite/Aegislash), so Choice Scarf Garchomp was added as the real sweeper, forming a Delphox/Archaludon/Garchomp core selection. To handle Mega Lopunny, the author leads Delphox, switches to Garchomp on Fake Out, and went Adamant Garchomp to OHKO Lopunny and Basculegion. Delphox shifted from max Speed to bulk so it survives priority and keeps Encore pressure alive. Primarina runs Mystic Water mainly to OHKO Hippowdon, and Mega Venusaur was added as a "face" pick to deter lead Primarina and bait Corviknight. The author rates the team's strength as never falling behind on numbers since every member contributes even at low HP; weaknesses are Mega Lopunny leads and Delphox's shaky Will-O-Wisp accuracy.Build article →
The team centers on Mega Charizard Y and Mega Aggron, assembled by a returning player with a simple framework: put Charizard at the core, then build outward to cover its weaknesses. Charizard Y runs a bulk investment with Rock Tomb as its surprise tech — countering Volcarona that normally walls it and enabling speed manipulation for late-game pivots. Hippowdon drops Stealth Rock+Yawn in favor of Cute Charm+Coil, countering Swords Dance Garchomp at +1 in a 1v1. Clefable (non-Mega) with Leftovers uses Cosmic Power to stall out Encore PP from Primarina and eventually set up an impenetrable moon-light loop. Aggron invests heavily in Special Defense to take on Aegislash and Milotic, with Sleep Talk being the only gap. Weavile with Choice Scarf runs Switcheroo for item theft, and Gardevoir fills the anti-stall and fire coverage role. The author notes Clefable's setup time gives opponents too many crit chances as the main weakness.Build article →

The author felt this meta demanded an answer to Basculegion's Poltergeist sweeps. Scarf Meowscarada and Hydreigon get punished by switch-ins once locked, so he chose Kingambit instead: Sucker Punch traps Basculegion, and SD+Sucker turns bad matchups around. Garchomp with Focus Sash sets Stealth Rock to push Kingambit's KO range and packs Dragon Tail to phaze Hippowdon switch-ins and scout the back. Jolly Mega Charizard X rounds out the core, specifically built to beat Scarf Garchomp—after one Dragon Dance it outspeeds another Scarf Chomp and even max-speed Scarf Hydreigon. These three form the standard lead. The last three slots are bait: Floette lures steels for Charizard, Basculegion lures Scarf Meowscarada to set up Kingambit, and Corviknight makes opponents misread Charizard as Y. The author admits the team has many bad matchups and bled rating often, so the build still needs refining.Build article →
The team is built around Mega Lopunny (Adamant, full Attack investment), exploiting the fact that Fake Out plus Thunder Punch nearly OHKOs uninvested Starmie and Fake Out plus High Jump Kick lands a high-probability OHKO on Garchomp and Glimmora. Core members are Lopunny, Archaludon, Corviknight, and Basculegion; the last two slots go to Mega Clefable as a setup platform and Espathra to handle fast threats like Gengar and Delphox that outspeed Lopunny. The standard lead is Lopunny plus Corviknight with a flexible third; Basculegion is prioritized when Hippowdon is on the opponent's team. The author acknowledges the team is not top-tier — no Fire-type move means Scizor is problematic, no Ice move leaves Dragonite as a weakness, and a late-season swap to Sash Garchomp cost 100 rating points before reverting to Espathra, an outcome the author admits they cannot explain.Build article →

Shake ran a rare Mega Staraptor plus Mega Pyroar pairing, the idea being to chip hard and then push Pyroar or Garchomp through. The opening Mega Staraptor carries Final Gambit to forcibly whittle slow mons like Hippowdon, Primarina and Corviknight and open the way for the backline, plus U-turn to strip Mimikyu's disguise and punish pivots; just showing it at team preview baits out Mimikyu and Mega Delphox. Mega Pyroar was the Mega used in about 70% of games, brutal against the ubiquitous Mimikyu, one Overheat nukes Hippowdon, and it beats Gholdengo, Corviknight, Skarmory and Aegislash. Mimikyu is the super MVP, brought nearly every game, and once its Swords Dance plus Wood Hammer drops Hippowdon the game is basically won. Scarf Garchomp closes as the third pick with many removal routes alongside Mimikyu, and Archaludon adds Stealth Rock and answers Starmie and Greninja. The author lists
Build article →
Built around status conditions and chip damage cycling into a late-game sweep, this team originated from a friend's remark that Scovillain plays like Celesteela, prompting the author to rework an old cycle-team concept. The dual-Mega core of Mega Dragalge and Mega Scovillain is the backbone: Dragalge's unique typing handles Mega Gengar and Mega Blaziken, while Scovillain's Leech Seed pairs with Clefable's Wish to check Steel Mega and high-BST Dragon cycles broadly. Hisuian Samurott's Sacred Sword chunks Archaludon, patching a key gap in the slow, Clefable-dependent cycle, and the Focus Sash ended up more reliable than the Expert Belt. Clefable carries the team as the overworked workhorse — wide switch-in range boosted by Leech Seed and burn chip, a late-game win condition, and a counter-play option against Mimikyu. The author flags over-reliance on Clefable, Scarfed Garchomp underperformBuild article →

The team is built around Mega Victreebel as the undisputed ace, designed to achieve reliable 1-for-1 trades in head-on matchups against the metagame staples Delphox, Greninja, and Charizard. Rather than the standard Chlorophyll or trapping-support set, Mega Victreebel runs a pure attacker spread — Knock Off, Giga Drain, Poison Jab, and Sucker Punch — exploiting the fact that Ingrain prevents opponents from switching out, forcing them to attack and walk into Sucker Punch. Whimsicott was the season MVP: a Cotton Guard + Leech Seed + Substitute loop that hard-walls Garchomp without Poison moves and Mimikyu without Curse. Gholdengo used Archaludon and Hippowdon as setup fodder for sweeps, and Dragonite leveraged Multiscale to set up Dragon Dance. The author admits the team has low overall polish — many wins came down to favorable matchup coin-flips — and highlights Mega Dragonite teams, PrimBuild article →

The author didn't build around a game plan — he just listed Pokemon that answer the format's many threats and landed on these six, a team meant to shut down the opponent's win condition rather than force its own. Four of the six look like possible Megas, which baits misreads. The centerpiece is a defensive HD Excadrill that hard-counters the format's best mon, Archaludon: it resists Archaludon's main moves, sets Stealth Rock for tempo, and occasionally steals games with Horn Drill. Mega Gyarados tanks hits with Intimidate plus its typing shift and removes a threat with wide coverage, Choice Scarf Hydreigon outspeeds Basculegion, Gengar and Greninja, and Skarmory lays Spikes to handle Lopunny and Meowscarada. The author is proudest of the homebrew HD Excadrill answer to Archaludon; the downsides are being walled by Skarmory and Hippowdon and the occasional accuracy whiff.Build article →
