Pokemon Champions R1: what the first regulation looks like

Roster snapshot, movepool deltas vs SV, and what Champions changes about competitive prep.

Pokemon Champions is TPC's standalone competitive battle platform. R1 is the launch regulation: 1 restricted legendary allowed in doubles, none in singles.

Is the roster a subset of SV?

Not exactly. Champions seeds its roster from the Paldea National Dex, but:

  • Some movepools have small adjustments (e.g. Tinkaton's high accuracy on certain moves — pending official spec)
  • Hidden abilities are gated until event distribution
  • Regional forms (Hisuian, Galarian) aren't all in at launch

BadgeCoach tags every Pokemon's Champions availability on the Pokedex, and the filter has a "Champions only" toggle.

Key differences from SV Reg I

  • 1 restricted legendary in Champions doubles; SV Reg I bans all
  • Terastallization is preserved
  • No Z-moves or Mega Evolutions in v1.0
  • Slimmer item list; event-only items aren't seeded

Training cost + HOME transfer

The pitch is "train once, compete forever" — transfer SV builds via Pokemon HOME and skip the BP / Bottle Cap / Mint grind. That's why BadgeCoach's VP-economy planner (next milestone) treats HOME as a first-class destination.
