What it does
White Smoke gives the holder complete immunity to stat drops caused by opposing moves or abilities. That includes Attack drops from Intimidate, Speed drops from Sticky Web, and any move that lowers your stats as a secondary or primary effect. It does not prevent drops the holder inflicts on itself.
The effect is nearly identical to Clear Body in practice — both block the same incoming reductions in standard formats.
Who runs it
Torkoal has 0% usage in Champions, and records of it carrying White Smoke are essentially nonexistent. Its relevant ability is Drought, which sets Sun automatically on entry — that's the entire reason it slots into sun teams. White Smoke is a filler ability with no practical footprint in this format.
How to use it
On paper, White Smoke counters Intimidate-cycling teams: opponents who repeatedly switch in Intimidate users to stack Attack drops would find their pressure nullified. A White Smoke Torkoal on a sun team could resist that pressure while still providing sun support — but only if you give up the automatic weather from Drought and rely on other means to set sun.
That trade-off has no documented case in Champions competition.
Tips & strategy
Torkoal appears in this format for Drought, not White Smoke. If you encounter a White Smoke Torkoal in a match, it's safe to read it as a non-standard configuration — one that trades away automatic sun for an immunity that rarely matters in the current meta.
