What it does
Slush Rush doubles the holder's Speed stat while Snow weather is active. No conditions, no activation cost — the weather is up, the bonus is on.
Beartic has base 50 Speed, which normally puts it behind almost every attacker in the format. Under Snow, that becomes an effective 100 — enough to outpace a large portion of the mid-Speed bracket, including most physical attackers sitting around the 80–95 range.
Gen 9 Snow weather also grants a ×1.5 Defense bonus to all Ice-type Pokémon, so Beartic gains Speed and Defense simultaneously when the snow is falling. That 80/80/80 defensive spread suddenly looks much more workable. Blizzard also hits 100% accuracy in Snow, which matters for your other team members even if Beartic prefers physical moves.
Who runs it
Beartic: The primary Slush Rush user in Champions. Its 130 base Attack is high enough to threaten real damage once the speed problem is solved, and Snow solves it cleanly. Most sets run Choice Band or Life Orb to push the damage output further.
How to use it
Beartic doesn't set Snow itself, so you need a teammate to get the weather up first. Abomasnow is the most common partner — it triggers Snow automatically on entry and puts pressure with its own special Ice attacks, which forces your opponent to split attention instead of just removing Beartic.
In doubles, your two lead slots are doing two jobs: one sets the weather, one benefits from it. The turn Beartic comes in under Snow is the turn it becomes a genuine speed threat. Before that, it's slow and predictable, so try not to bring it in before the weather is already active.
Effective Speed 100 is a useful but not dominant tier. You're not outrunning everything — dedicated speed-control teams, Pokémon with base 100+ Speed and boosted investment, or weather overwrite can all shut this down. Know which opposing Pokémon still go before you even under Snow.
Tips & strategy
Icy Rock extends Snow to 8 turns instead of 5, and that extra duration matters a lot for a weather-dependent set like this. If your Snow setter isn't carrying Icy Rock, you're gambling on the weather lasting long enough.
Icicle Crash is Beartic's best physical Ice move — base 85 power with a 30% flinch rate. Under Snow with the speed advantage, you're often attacking first, and a flinch in doubles can lock out one of your opponent's two Pokémon for an entire turn. That's free pressure for your partner.
If your opponent has their own weather setter, Beartic drops back to 50 Speed the moment Snow ends. Build your team with that risk in mind — either include a weather setter that can win the weather war, or have a plan for turns when the snow is gone.
