What it does
Hyper Cutter blocks all external Attack-lowering effects. Intimidate, Charm, Growl — none of them touch the holder's Attack. One thing it does NOT cover: burn. Burn cuts Attack through a flat modifier, not a stat-stage change, so Hyper Cutter won't stop it.
The reason this matters in doubles is Intimidate cycling. A team running two or three Incineroar switch-ins can stack a physical attacker down to -2 or -3 Attack, which turns a sweeper into a liability. With Hyper Cutter, that cycle does nothing — every Intimidate trigger is wasted.
Who runs it
Gliscor runs Hyper Cutter at 80% usage and it's the obvious fit. Ground/Flying typing gives it a natural Earthquake threat that hits both opponents in doubles, immunity to Ground moves, and no Fear of Intimidate stacking. You can park it across from Incineroar as many times as needed and it keeps hitting at full Attack.
Crabominable uses it at 50%. Ice/Fighting coverage is useful against Dragon and Fairy-heavy teams. Same deal — it doesn't want its Attack cut, so Hyper Cutter patches that specific vulnerability.
How to use it
The gameplan is simple: select Gliscor into teams that rely on Intimidate to soften physical hits. When they switch in Incineroar to proc Intimidate, nothing changes on your end. You keep your full Attack, they burn a switch.
Pair with Life Orb or Choice Band to make the most of that uncut Attack. Your partner can focus on supporting or cleaning without worrying about Gliscor getting nerfed out of relevance.
Tips & strategy
Hyper Cutter protects Attack only. Defense drops, Speed drops, Special Attack drops from Parting Shot — those all land normally. Against Parting Shot specifically, the Attack half is blocked but the Special Attack drop still applies. For a physical attacker like Gliscor that's fine, but know the limits.
Burn is the counter. Will-O-Wisp bypasses Hyper Cutter entirely because burn's Attack penalty isn't a stat stage. If you see Will-O-Wisp on the opposing team, bring Lum Berry or have a switch ready.
