What it does
Hunger Switch flips Morpeko between Full Belly Mode and Hangry Mode at the end of every turn. The practical difference: Aura Wheel is Electric-type in Full Belly Mode and Dark-type in Hangry Mode. The move itself is 110 base power, 100% accurate, and raises Speed by one stage each time it's used — that's an excellent move by any measure.
The catch is that you can't choose which type you get this turn. The form cycles automatically, and it's tied to the calendar: Full Belly one turn, Hangry the next, back to Full Belly, and so on. So managing which form Morpeko is in at each key moment is one of the main things to think about on this Pokémon.
The two forms have identical stats — same Attack, Special Attack, Speed, bulk, all of it. Only the appearance and Aura Wheel type change. All other moves work the same regardless of form.
If Morpeko loses Hunger Switch (via Wandering Spirit or similar), it stays locked in its current form permanently.
Who runs it
Morpeko is the only user (100% — it's an exclusive ability). Its Speed stat is 97, comfortably in the upper-middle tier, and Aura Wheel's +1 Speed bonus pushes it even further after the first use. Attack (95) and Special Attack (90) are close enough that both forms of Aura Wheel hit at comparable damage.
Electric + Dark as a type combination covers a wide target range. Ground-type is the one immunity to the Electric form — if the opponent has one, you'll want to be on the right form before committing.
How to use it
Core loop: use Aura Wheel, gain +1 Speed, end turn (form switches), next turn use Aura Wheel again with the other type. Speed keeps climbing, coverage alternates.
A typical moveset is Aura Wheel + Protect + two coverage moves. Protect serves two purposes: dodge damage when you're unsure of the opponent's move, and stall a turn to flip the form (since form changes happen at turn's end, Protect still triggers the switch). That lets you control which type Aura Wheel is next turn.
Tips & strategy
Hunger Switch triggers at the end of every turn — including turns where you used Protect and never got hit. Living through a turn is all it takes to change form. You can track exactly which form Morpeko is in from turn one just by counting turns.
End-of-turn events like weather damage, burn, poison, and item effects all happen before the form switch — so you can predict the form going into the next turn reliably.
If the opponent has a Ground-type that walls the Electric form of Aura Wheel, remember it'll be Dark next turn. Don't repeat the same form on consecutive turns against something that's immune — the form change solves the problem automatically.
Life Orb maximizes each hit's damage output. Choice Scarf rockets a 97-base Speed Pokémon into a difficult-to-outspeed range, but locking into one move type means you can't flex between Aura Wheel and coverage — plan around that.
