What it does
Armor Tail blocks opponents from using any move with priority greater than 0 while the carrier is active. That covers Fake Out (priority +3), Extreme Speed (+2), Quick Attack (+1), Sucker Punch (+1), Mach Punch (+1) — every speed-side momentum tool in doubles.
When the opponent tries to use Fake Out, the move simply fails. They burned their turn. Your partner acted freely.
Two things to keep straight: this only blocks the opponent's priority moves, not yours. Your own partner can still use Fake Out normally. And it's an on-field effect — the moment Farigiraf leaves, the lock ends.
Who runs it
Farigiraf is the only Champions carrier. Its main-line ability is Cud Chew, but Armor Tail is the right pick when your team's setup piece is heavily threatened by Fake Out leads. Farigiraf's bulk (110 HP, 80 Defense) lets it absorb priority hits without crumbling, and it naturally learns Trick Room, so it can block priority and shift speed control in the same game plan.
How to use it
The specific problem Armor Tail solves: your core attacker or setup mon needs a free first turn and the opponent leads Incineroar or another Fake Out user. Lead Farigiraf next to that core piece. The Fake Out fails, the Fake Out user wastes their turn, and your partner does exactly what it needed to do on turn 1.
Pair it with a Trick Room gameplan and you get two layers of disruption: priority shutdown plus speed inversion. Fast offense-first teams struggle with both at once.
Tips & strategy
Armor Tail only blocks the opponent's priority moves — the carrier itself can still use Protect, Quick Attack, or any other priority move freely. The lock is one-directional: opponents can't use priority, you can.
It does not block negative priority moves, and it doesn't stop abilities that trigger on switching (like Intimidate). Strictly about move priority values above 0 on the opponent's side.
If your team runs Trick Room and faces heavy priority pressure in the setup turn, Armor Tail Farigiraf is the most direct answer. It's a specialist — one job, done cleanly.
