What it does
Parabolic Charge is an Electric-type special move that targets every adjacent Pokémon on the field — both opposing Pokémon and your own partner. After dealing damage to all of them, the user recovers HP equal to half of the total damage dealt.
In singles that drain mechanic is straightforward. In doubles it gets interesting: you can hit two opponents in one turn, meaning the heal scales with two targets worth of damage. The spread modifier applies (each hit is ×0.75), but hitting two enemies still produces more total recovery than a standard single-target drain move would.
The catch: your partner takes damage every time you use it. That chip is unavoidable unless your partner is immune or you build around it deliberately.
Who runs it
Bellibolt runs Parabolic Charge at 78% usage. It has two ability paths: Electromorphosis (when hit by a move, becomes Charged — the next Electric-type move this Pokémon uses deals double power) and Hadron Engine (sets Electric Terrain on entry, boosts Sp.Atk while terrain is active). Both paths amplify Parabolic Charge damage, and higher damage means more HP recovered per use.
How to use it
Two opponents on the field is the condition you want. When both enemies are present, you drain off two targets in one action — that is the core appeal of the move. Once an opponent faints and you are down to one target, the heal output drops sharply.
The partner chip problem is real but manageable. Pair Bellibolt with a Ground-type partner that is immune to Electric moves: they do not take damage from Parabolic Charge at all, so the friendly fire is completely avoided. Alternatively, some Pokémon can use the chip — those with Weakness Policy or Berserk trigger off taking damage, including from allies, so the hit becomes a deliberate buff. But that requires building the team around it.
Hadron Engine entry sets Electric Terrain, which then boosts Parabolic Charge damage immediately. Lead Bellibolt, let terrain land, then click Parabolic Charge for enhanced hits and enhanced recovery.
Tips & strategy
Check your partner's HP before clicking Parabolic Charge. If your partner is low, the chip can finish them off. That is the most common way this move punishes inattentive play.
When one opponent has fainted, weigh whether the single-target drain is still worth the partner chip. Often it is not — switching to a non-spread attack or going Protect on the partner turn gives better tempo.
Hadron Engine terrain also empowers any opposing Electric-type moves. If the opponent runs their own Electric attacker, consider whether terrain benefits them more than it benefits you. Terrain-stealing moves like Grassy Terrain or Misty Terrain are common ways to strip your setup.
