What it does
Rock Wrecker is a Rock-type physical move with 150 base power. After using it, you cannot attack or switch the following turn — you are locked in place recharging. In doubles, that means your partner faces both opposing Pokémon alone for an entire turn.
150 power with STAB Rock typing on Rhyperior's high Attack stat is a real nuke. The move hits Fire, Flying, and Bug types for 2×. It deals halved damage against Water and Grass — standard Rock-type tradeoffs.
Who runs it
Rhyperior (4%) is the only carrier in Champions, at a very low rate. That usage number tells you most of what you need to know: the recharge penalty makes this a niche choice, and running it requires having an answer to the dead turn built into your team.
How to use it
The condition for using Rock Wrecker is being confident you can either: KO the target outright so the field state is manageable during the recharge turn, or have your partner use Protect to safely survive while you recharge.
If the target survives and the opponent still has both Pokémon up, your Rhyperior is stuck on the field and becomes a free target for a full turn. That is generally a losing exchange.
The practical blocker is the KO calculation itself — you need near certainty that the hit connects and the target goes down. Anything less turns the nuke into a liability.
Tips & strategy
In doubles, the rule is simple: either your partner can Protect through the recharge turn, or your partner can handle whatever opposing threat remains alone. If neither is true, a more consistent Rock-type move gets better results from that slot.
The 4% usage rate reflects this — Rock Wrecker is only correct in very specific board states. In most games, a reliable Rock STAB option is safer.
