What it does
Ice Hammer is an Ice-type physical move that deals damage and then lowers the user's own Speed by one stage immediately after hitting. That drop takes effect the same turn, applying from the next turn onward.
One stage means Speed is multiplied by 2/3. Use it twice in a row and Speed becomes 4/9 of base. For a fast Pokémon that relies on outspeeding opponents, this is genuinely painful. For a slow one, it barely matters — and in Trick Room, slower is faster.
Ice-type coverage hits Dragon, Flying, Grass, and Ground types for super-effective damage. All four see regular use in Champions. Ice is resisted by Fire, Water, Ice, and Steel.
Who runs it
Crabominable (80%) is the only user here. It's an Ice/Fighting type, and Ice Hammer is its STAB Ice move. Crabominable is naturally slow, so the Speed drop is either irrelevant or actively beneficial in Trick Room — in that field condition, lower Speed means you move earlier.
How to use it
With Trick Room active, the Speed drop from Ice Hammer becomes a straight upgrade. Each use slows Crabominable further, which moves it higher in the Trick Room priority order. The loop — hit, drop Speed, hit faster next turn — runs until Trick Room expires.
Without Trick Room, the Speed drop is a real liability. After the first Ice Hammer, Crabominable will likely move last next turn unless a partner is handling Speed control. Choice Band is a common item to maximize damage output before Speed becomes too problematic.
In doubles, Crabominable needs a Trick Room setter to work cleanly. Without one, the Speed accumulation puts it in an increasingly bad position.
Tips & strategy
White Herb removes the first Speed drop instantly — but only once. If you plan to fire Ice Hammer once and then switch to a different move, White Herb preserves your Speed for that opening hit.
Trick Room lasts 5 turns. Count how many turns remain before deciding how many times to use Ice Hammer. The Speed accumulated before the field expires becomes a pure disadvantage after, so burning down most of your Speed before Trick Room ends is generally cleaner than carrying Speed penalties into the normal speed order.
Against Dragon types, Ice STAB from Crabominable hits super-effective with a 1.5x multiplier on top. It's one of the cleaner ways to deal with Dragon threats in a Trick Room team.
