What it does
Flower Trick is a Grass-type physical move with two built-in guarantees: it always hits (no accuracy check), and it always lands as a critical hit (100% crit rate).
Critical hits deal 1.5x damage. That alone is significant. More importantly for competitive doubles: critical hits bypass the user's own Attack stat drops. This is the interaction that makes Flower Trick exceptional — when you score a crit, any negative Attack modifiers on your side are ignored for that damage calculation.
Intimidate lowers the opponent's Attack by one stage on switch-in. It is one of the most common abilities in the current meta, and it is specifically what Flower Trick is built to ignore. Arcanine, Incineroar, Landorus-Therian — these core Intimidate users are ubiquitous, and most physical attackers lose real damage every time one enters the field. Flower Trick never does. Stack three Intimidate triggers against Meowscarada, and the 151st Flower Trick hits exactly as hard as the first.
Grass coverage is narrowed but real: super-effective against Water, Rock, and Ground.
Who runs it
Meowscarada at 99% — the exclusive user. It is Grass/Dark with very high Speed and solid Attack. The combination means it almost always moves first, and the guaranteed crit means the damage output is predictable no matter what the opponent's team composition throws at it.
How to use it
Flower Trick is a no-conditions main move. No setup, no luck, no threshold to cross — you click it and predictable damage comes out every time. Build your damage calculations around it because it is the most consistent output source Meowscarada has.
The Intimidate matchup is the headline use case. When you see the opposing team is built around physical Attack drops, Meowscarada with Flower Trick is the clean answer. Your physical attackers are getting nerfed; Meowscarada's output is not.
Prioritize Water, Rock, or Ground targets to get the super-effective bonus. Neutral targets are fine when the priority is speed-clearing a threat rather than maximizing damage.
Tips & strategy
Critical hits bypass the user's own Attack drops and the target's positive Defense boosts — but do not bypass the target's negative Defense drops or the user's positive Attack stages. Crit isn't a blanket ignore of all stat changes.
Always hits means it even lands on high-evasion targets. Any Pokémon stacking evasion via Double Team or passive abilities gets no protection against Flower Trick.
Grass has a lot of resistances and immunities: Grass, Fire, Poison, Steel, Bug, Dragon, and Flying targets all take reduced or no damage. Meowscarada typically carries Dark-type STAB alongside Flower Trick to cover the matchups where Grass doesn't work.
Meowscarada has elite Speed but modest bulk. It wins by going first. Fake Out can disrupt its turn — plan for that. Either bring a partner that can neutralize the Fake Out threat, or be ready to pivot.
