What it does
Decorate is a Fairy-type status move that gives the target ally +2 Attack and +2 Special Attack at the same time. That's the equivalent of one Swords Dance and one Nasty Plot collapsed into one action, which your partner gets to spend on an actual attack.
Two-stage boosts multiply the stat by 2x. Getting both offensive stats doubled in a single turn is the kind of setup that would normally cost two full turns to do separately — and in competitive doubles, two turns of pure setup is an eternity. Decorate compresses all of it into one. The recipient attacks at full power the same turn they got buffed.
One constraint: it only targets allies, not opponents, and not yourself.
Who runs it
Alcremie at 96%. That number means this move is the whole reason Alcremie is in the team — it doesn't run for its own offensive stats or bulk. Alcremie is Fairy-type with unremarkable Speed, so its value is entirely wrapped up in getting Decorate off.
The partner choice matters a lot. A mixed attacker benefits from both Attack and Special Attack going up. A physical attacker at +2 Attack can push through checks that would normally survive. A special sweeper with +2 Special Attack forces opponents into tough calls. The best recipients are partners who were already threatening and just needed one push over the line.
How to use it
The clean turn goes like this: Alcremie clicks Decorate, the buffed partner clicks an attack move, and that attack lands at +2. Your opponent has to deal with both Alcremie and the boosted threat in the same turn, which puts them immediately on the back foot.
The problem is opponents know this line and will try to remove Alcremie before it fires. It's not very bulky. The answer is support — a Fake Out user to flinch one opponent on turn one, a Follow Me or Rage Powder user to redirect incoming damage, or simply bringing Alcremie in on a turn where you know the opponent is going to protect or do something passive.
Tips & strategy
Decorate can't be bounced by Magic Bounce because it targets an ally, not an opponent. It doesn't need an accuracy check. As long as your partner is in the field, it connects.
Once the boost lands, your partner's threat level forces your opponent to commit resources to handling it — resources they can't spend elsewhere. Decorate itself deals no damage, but the turn after it fires often decides the game direction. A mixed attacker who just received +2 in both directions is genuinely hard to play around.
